PART 1
A clipboard hit the floor.
Everyone looked up.
A frightened little girl stood at the hospital counter.
Her lip was bleeding.
One eye swollen shut.
“Please help me.”
The nurse rolled her eyes.
“You need to leave.”
The child looked confused.
“I’m hurt.”
The nurse pointed toward the exit.
“Now.”
The girl slowly turned away.
Trying not to cry.
Then a firefighter waiting nearby stood up.
“Hold on.”
The child stopped.
Something had caught his attention.
A silver necklace hanging from her neck.
His face went pale.
Because he had seen that necklace before.
Years ago.
On the woman he was supposed to marry.
The woman who disappeared without a trace.
The little girl noticed him staring.
Then quietly said:
“My mom told me to find you.”
PART 2 IN COMMENTS 👇👇👇
The firefighter couldn’t move.
The necklace trembled in his hand.
The little girl started crying.
“My mom kept this for me.”
The hospital waiting room became silent.
The firefighter opened the pendant.
Inside was a tiny photograph.
His photograph.
Taken twenty years earlier.
His eyes filled with tears.
“Where did you get this?”
The child wiped her face.
“My mom said you were a hero.”
The firefighter looked down.
Then saw something else.
A folded letter hidden inside the pendant.
A letter written by the woman he thought he’d lost forever.
And suddenly he realized the impossible.
The little girl wasn’t a stranger.
She was his daughter.
